HOW TO IDENTIFY THE VICTIMS AND
PERPETRATORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING

Have us speak at your school, church or youth group.

There are many different kinds of traffickers from gangs, criminal
organizations, and those with no special affiliation. Not all are men, as
many women are involved as well. The victims are targeted from kids
that are running from home, kids without a good father role model,
and vulnerable looking kids as well. Now more than ever almost 90%

of grooming is done in online chat rooms; and no chat room is ex-
empt.

Some of the tactics used by a perpetrator include: posing as a friend,
boyfriend or girlfriend, and promising lifestyle gifts. Drugs, force, and
gang rape are also typical tactics they use.
Pre teen and adolescent girls & boys are their main target audience,
and they also find these kids at locations that youth might typically
frequent.
Some of the signs of a trafficked child are physical signs such as burn
marks, bruises, or cuts. Changes in behavior such as being over sexual,
withdrawn, checked out or tired. A child might also have more money

than before and this could show up with expensive clothes or acces-
sories. There could be signs of drug affiliation or an older boyfriend or

new friends.
If you see any of these signs and suspect that a child is being trafficked
please contact The National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-
7888 or National Domestic Hotline at 1-800-799-7233
